China is an awe-inspiring, friendly, and delightful country. Discover this land of striking natural formations and centuries-old temples set amidst gleaming skyscrapers – a land where ancient traditions are being transformed every day by the rapid pace of modernization. Become part of one of the most dynamic and populated societies in the world while you live with a host family and learn Mandarin in an academically elite school.

Beyond catching a glimpse of the Great Wall or the famed terracotta warriors, China has a rapidly changing and excitingly different culture to anything you will have experienced in Australia – there couldn’t be a better time to see it for yourself!

The Chinese revere tradition, but also embrace many parts of Western popular culture. You might even see a McDonald’s right next to a centuries-old temple! Thanks to the popularity of Confucianism, the Chinese have a strong sense of family and a deep respect for hierarchy. They value harmony and tend to avoid conflict. Most food in China is cooked with meat, so vegetarianism isn’t very common. But get ready to enjoy some delicious dumplings, rice, and pork!
