When thinking about the best vacation destinations in the United States, you’d be hard-pressed to find a list that does not include anywhere in Florida. Visitors enjoy unique outdoor adventures in Florida thanks to the state’s sugary fine sand along coastlines with vibrantly colored water. In fact, travel organizations regularly rank Florida beaches as the best in the entire country. Among these widely recognized getaways is Siesta Beach on Siesta Key.
U.S. News and World Report placed Siesta Key at the top of its list of best Florida beaches in 2025, and this strong ranking holds up even with a wider scope. As part of the 2025 Travelers’ Choice Awards, TripAdvisor compiled user reviews for the best beaches in the U.S. and gave Siesta Beach the number-one spot. Accolades continued for this Floridian slice of paradise on TripAdvisor’s list of the best beaches in the world, upon which Siesta Beach ranked fourth. Of course, Florida’s usual beach day activities are integral to Siesta Beach’s nearly five-star TripAdvisor score, but there is much more to discover here.
Enjoy the sun, sand, and sea at Siesta Beach
Siesta Beach is on the large barrier island of Siesta Key near Sarasota, a town about halfway between Tampa and Fort Myers. Much like this family-friendly Florida city with endless white sand beaches, there are plenty of things to do on land and in the water at Siesta Beach. There is even a playground just feet from the sand. A great way to explore Siesta Beach is on the Siesta Key Electric Bike Sunset Tour. This two-hour bike ride meanders along the sands of Siesta Beach and through Siesta Key Village (one of America’s most underrated beach towns). As the sun sets, you’ll see a flag-lowering ceremony at Patriot’s Point before looping back around to the tour’s meeting point. Space is limited, so book tickets online ahead of time.
Another way to enjoy the scenery of Siesta Beach is from the water. Through Siesta Key Watersports, you can rent a jet ski or a pontoon boat to explore on your own. If you want a guided aquatic experience, check out the organization’s dolphin cruises and jet ski tours. You can even go parasailing with Siesta Key Watersports. Many of these activities are around $100 or less.
