You want to help to provide children with a good education, provide comprehensive protection to children and their families and ensure the strengthening of human rights?

The foundation situated in Buenos Aires de Herrera works with local families in difficult situations to provide education and sanitation for infants.

You work directly with the children and their families, helping in any task necessary, and encouraging social and cultural understanding. You will accompany and encourage social and cultural education for children and their families.

You will work with direct supervision from a staff member, this person will be directing, guiding and reviewing all work regularly. You will take part in an arrival orientation, a mid-stay orientation and an end of stay camp. In these camps, important subjects will be discussed, such as the participant’s relationship with the host family, project and different cultural difficulties they might be experiencing.

You may choose to take part in this program for either 12, 24 or 44 weeks. Please contact us for more details.

Educational requirements

A participant with some educational background on social work or education and/or experience working with children teaching/coaching crafts, dances, music is preferred.

Language details

Spanish for basic communication is expected. You will have access to the Rosetta stone language course 3 months before the beginning of the program. This will allow you to come to the Dominican Republic with a basic knowledge of the Spanish language, and you have the possibility to continue the course throughout the first part of the program.
Soft skills and other requirements

We are looking for a motivated person, patient, with the desire to teach and good human skills. You should be open minded, adaptable, responsible and very eager to serve and help others. You should also be willing to support changes in the individual and also in your environment, problem-solving oriented, committed and have the necessary maturity and understanding of the importance of the program.

Get to know Carribean and Dominican culture while staying in the capital and oldest city of the Americas, Santo Domingo. Explore the vibrant commercial and touristic areas, the Malecon and the Zona Colonial, where many sights, museums, and shops wait for you to be discovered. Have a passion for baseball? Enjoy sharing it with Dominicans while watching their favorite national sport.

You will be working directly with families and children of the local community and stay in a local host family, what helps you to learn a lot about Dominican Culture, learn the language fastly and provides all the support you need.
