AIYEP runs from October to February every year. Australian participants should commit to two months in Indonesia from December to February, while Indonesians are in Australia from October through to December. In 2019-2020 the Australian regional host location will be the Australia Capital Territory, with Brisbane as the urban phase host city.

Successful candidates will meet their Indonesian counterparts during their October orientation and later both groups will undertake pre-departure training before traveling to Indonesia to live and work with host families and organisations for two months. As well as all the exciting possibilities that the AIYEP program opens up for participants, they will also have the chance to earn an AFS Global Competence Certificate.
