Diversity has always been the main characteristic of this exquisite country. Located between two oceans, Colombia has been the linking bridge between Central and South America. After centuries of European influence, and a history full of mystery and adventure, Colombia possesses an incredibly diverse mixture of cultures, languages, dialects, landscapes, culinary and an almost infinite amount of natural resources. From paradisaical spots in the Caribbean Sea, magnificent beaches in the Pacific Coast, the greenest highlands in the middle of the country, exuberant flatland in the east, the amazing Amazonian rain forest in the southeast and snow topped mountains at Ecuadorian latitudes, as well as its flavors, colors and climates turn Colombia into a place you will never want to leave. Its cheerful and hospitable people and culture have fascinated the world for centuries, now it’s time to let them fascinate you!

On this program, you will explore the country’s dynamic culture, starting with the city of Popayan, which offers ornate churches, colorful markets, and fascinating archeological sites. You’ll also have the chance to venture into Colombia’s lush natural landscape and take part in activities like horseback riding and hiking. By living with a local host family, you’ll truly become a part of Colombian daily life as you share conversations and cultural insights around the dinner table.
